Wife Beater
Wife Beater: A poem on domestic violence. Don't you remember when you paid her bride price, She did nothing but commit her lifetime to you, But it's all been built on lies, You didn't love her,you were just looking for someone to call wife. It isn't her fault that you took hits on the stock market, But she'll be there, when all's low, It isn't her fault, the recession caused you to lose your job, But she'll be there, when all seems lost, And all she's ever wanted was a modicum of your love and acceptance. You're a wife beater, Saying she brought bad luck, That she's responsible for your misfortunes, And that things will get better with her out of your life, Well you're wrong. Does it make you feel good? Knowing that there's a punching bag waiting just for you, After squandering the little you have on booze, You come home and beat her black and blue. Coming home and throw up on the couch, But she'll be there to clean your mess up,
