Peace, Be Still.

While the sun hid its face,

Dead was its smouldering blaze,

You found me, deep in life's maze,

My feet were blistered and my eyes were in a haze,

The shroud for my soul was torn, raw and sick,

My skin was darkness and the grime made me sticky,

Wild, distrusting eyes filled with contempt,

That was how I saw you, another opportunist,

So I ran, but could I move my weary limbs?

Parched, stung, drowning in bitterness, rabid,

I declined your affection and roared, let me be,

But you stayed, unmoved by my invectives,

And just when the waves threatened to wreak my bridge,

You swooped down, and whispered,

Words I could never forget,

Peace, be still.
